Use Medicines Carefully

We all are aware of potential side effects medicines can cause. In fact, it is the fear of side effects (although sometimes the side effects are highlighted more than they actually are), that detracts many people from using scientific and modern allopathic system of medicine, which is the main system of disease treatment. It is the fear of side effects of allopathic medicines which draw people towards alternative medicines (such as homeopathy, Ayurvedic, naturopathy, chiropractic, and many more); because many alternative medicine branches sometimes falsely claim that their system is devoid of side effects. But the fact is, no system of medicine is free from side effects. No medicine is free from side effects, although the dose for side effects may vary.

If you are taking any medicine, you should be aware of the potential side effects it may cause and be prepared to deal with the side effects, as soon as you notice them. If you are aware of the potential side effects, you can take necessary steps to reduce/prevent the severity of side effects, by taking steps such as stopping a medicine, as soon as you notice side effects or informing your doctor when you notice symptoms of side effects. Be prepared for side effects.

You may know that many medications are Over The Counter (OTC) medication, which means you can buy them without a prescription and many countries allow advertisement of such medicines in open media such as print and electronic media. Pharmaceutical companies manufacturing such OTC medications may claim these OTC drugs to have very few side effects and it may be true to some extent. But even OTC medicines have side effects and some with potentially serious consequences, e.g. pain medications such as Ibuprofen are OTC medicines, but these pain medications (commonly known as pain killers) have side effects such as ulcer in stomach and duodenum (peptic ulcer). So, do not get fooled by false claims, some pharmaceutical companies may be making.

If you are taking any medication, it is wise to learn about the potential side effects the medicine may cause and reduce/prevent side effects from becoming serious. If any system of medicine (alternative medicines) claim that their system is devoid of side effects, be sure that they are making a false claim and stay away from them.
